Marrawah is Australian guitar player and songwriter Glen Heald’s fifth studio release. The album has a Progressive and Acid rock focus and contains eight tracks packed full of intense rock guitar riffs, melodies and solos. Glen’s draws much of his influence for this recording from Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Robin Trower. The album was recorded over a two year period with a number of the solos on the longer ten minute tracks cut live in one take. Glen is joined once again by his brother Dave Heald on electric bass, delivering powerful and heavy melodic bass lines in the style of John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). In Glen's own words he states “The bass has never sounded so good on my tracks before I recorded with my brother Dave”. Furthermore he goes on to say “...the guitars on the album are mostly cut on a Gibson Firebird or modified Fender Stratocaster running through a cranked 100 watt JCM 800 Marshal amplifier... which is probably making me go deaf”. It should also be noted that Glen plays slide on a Resonator guitar on one track utilizing an amazing melodic banjo finger picking technique. In addition to this Glen also plays flute and blues harp on the track "Down to the station". The recordings on Marrawah leave no room for keyboard or horns, its well constructed pedal to the metal in your face guitar playing from the start to the end with slamming drums and bass. So if you dig real guitar players that refuse to compromise then this is your album.
